The Ocean Needs Us As Much As We Need It

Rizki Nurramadhan

SDG Number 14: Life Below Water

Let us introduce the Speaker of The Month, January Edition: Rizki Nurramadhan. His speech begins  with a question of why we should care about the ocean? Well, there are many reasons for us to care, the ocean makes up 65% of our nation and about 75% of it is polluted. By 2045, “The Golden Era”, we might not even have clean water anymore. So, how can we help? As Rizki said in his speech, “Some of you do not even have time to listen to my speech. But I need you to have time to care about the problem”. Thus, click the video above to show that we care about the ocean, our ocean.

Here’s some tips for delivering a life-changing speech by our the speaker of the month, Rizki:

  • PREP IS IMPORTANT

Make sure that you prepare everything you want to say and also what you need to say. Without preparation, you are at a major disadvantage, as it might result in an unfocused speech.

  • INCLUDE FURTHER RESEARCH

It is always better if you can include data or official sources to support the speech you are about to give. Remember that the speech must be interesting but also informative.

  • BE PASSIONATE

The best tip I can give is to always talk about something you are passionate about. Any speech can be interesting with a passionate speaker.

  • ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE

Do your best to engage the audience in your speech. Whether through questions, jokes, or any other method, engaging the audience can evoke a sense of interest from them.

  • BE CONFIDENT

Remember the golden rule: “The show must go on.” It does not matter if you make small mistakes, such as tripping on your words or forgetting a certain section of the speech. The truth is, 90% of the time, the audience does not even realize you made a mistake. So it is better to continue the speech confidently as if nothing went wrong.

  • TAKE YOUR TIME

While there is a time limit for your speech, you should not panic and talk too fast. This will only decrease the impact of the words, leaving the audience unbothered by your speech. Try to add small pauses or deep breaths in your speech to let the words sink into their minds.

Take notes for your morning speech, peeps!
